The artist has donated the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the UK's independent music venues.

Fender was presented with the prize on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the top album of the previous year.

He has chosen to donate the funds to the trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function local spots had in his initial steps.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the region, and further afield, when I was beginning," said the artist. "These venues are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the total UK scene.

Recently, well-known musicians including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.

Fender also took part, raising in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds supported spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from floods, fires and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, court cases and noise complaints.

Other venues received financial assistance in modernizing facilities and gear that positively impacted musicians and fans.

"The idea that revenue from shows in large arenas helps the local stages, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

In they earned the prize in the mid-90s for their album their work, frontman Jarvis Cocker stated that the act would donate their prize money to the charity the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her award between multiple charities, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I contributed a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they needed new equipment," she explained to a publication.

In recent years, they donated their funds to the community center that developed their act, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients M People gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.

"Winning was quite enough," stated singer Small. "The prize was the cherry on top but we could do without the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning touched another person's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had rescued two local spots in the South East, by placing them under community ownership.

One venue in the city and the other in the city were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is backed by the arts council and music fans who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
