Devastating News on Cargo Plane Accident: Fatalities Increases to 13

The total count of fatalities from the UPS cargo plane that burst into flames and crashed has risen to 13, according to latest announcements.

Mayor's Statement

Traveling to the Teamsters’ vigil, I was informed of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” expressed the city mayor in a social media post. “My thoughts is with the loved ones, associates and co-workers of all who were killed in this recently occurred calamity. We will get through this together.”

Deceased Identified

An announcement from the company listed the officers aboard the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts are extended to all staff member who has been impacted and all in our community region – helping you and making sure you receive the support and assistance you need is our main concern,” the organization’s message stated.

Inquiry Findings

National officials revealed that the jet’s port side wing ignited and an engine fell off soon after liftoff from the airfield, causing the jet to crash and burst into a inferno.

The NTSB has said it is investigating the plane’s maintenance history, which was in the state for fixes weeks ahead of the incident.

Aviation information showed the aircraft was on the runway in that location from 3 September to last week.

“We are aware that this plane was present in the facility,” remarked an investigator on Thursday, without a specific time frame. “We will examine every piece of maintenance that was completed, from the Texas time, all the way to the day of the trip.”

Retrieval of Key Components

The pilot’s recorder and information unit were found, and the engine was discovered on the runway.

The recorders – referred to as black boxes – were built to endure collision damage and intense temperatures from blazes, and they looked to be undamaged when found within the remains. Authorities plan on examining data from the recorders.

Jet’s concluding data recordings displayed an height of that level and a rate of 210 mph before the impact.

Service Record

According to FAA files from last month, a fracture on a structural piece inside the center wing fuel tank demanded fixes.

The company ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies airframe maintenance for the company’s MD-11 and manages a repair facility in Texas, refused to provide remarks, but expressed it would work closely when investigators contacted it.

Services Restart

In the meantime, the hub operations resumed Wednesday night with its Next Day Air or night sort procedure, official Jim Mayer said. All three tarmacs at the aviation hub were also reopened.

The sorting center in this location is the organization’s most significant. The hub hires in excess of 20,000 individuals in the region, handles 300 flights daily and processes in excess of four hundred thousand packages each hour.

Public Support

A memorial was organized on the night of that date by the regional Teamsters Union, which acts for employees at the aviation hub, the company’s biggest air cargo hub.

The union chapter, which represents employees, started the gathering with a quiet tribute at 5.14pm, the approximate hour of the incident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so sudden, so surprising,” the leader spoke to the assembly of 200. “No one had a opportunity to part to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
